My Story
A personal journey through hair loss, healing, and creating something better.
Hi, I'm Steph!
And I’d love to tell you a little bit about how I got here — and why this means so much to me.
I still remember the moment I knew something was wrong. My hair was falling out more than usual — clinging to my pillow, coming out in clumps in the shower. I felt panicked, scared, and completely alone.
Eventually, I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which triggered hyperthyroidism and became the root of my hair loss. It came in unpredictable waves, and while the physical loss was hard, the emotional toll was even heavier. I worked so hard to hide it — from coworkers, friends, even family. I didn’t feel like myself anymore. And I didn’t want anyone to see me this way.
I researched everything I could.
I went to wig boutiques.
I tried on wig after wig, but nothing felt quite right — nothing looked natural enough, or gave me the comfort I needed to breathe in my own skin again.
But after years of trial and error, slowly, I started figuring it out.
I learned how to make wigs work for me — how to customize them, how to make them look real, and how to wear them with confidence. I started to feel like me again.
There’s something really special that happens when the confusion lifts and you start having fun with wigs. You realize you can express yourself in new ways — go shorter, longer, lighter, darker. You can feel like yourself again… or even discover a version of you that you hadn’t met yet.
Why I Created Wigs by
Steph
I’ve always said: If I can’t make it better, I won’t do it. And for the longest time, I couldn’t find a wig that truly met the standard I needed — not just in how it looked, but in how it felt to wear. I knew that if I ever created something of my own, it had to solve the problems I had personally lived through.
That’s why I started Wigs by Steph.
These wigs were born out of lived experience — long days wearing uncomfortable caps, trying to make something work that just wasn’t made with real life in mind. I wanted something different: wigs that are as light and breathable as they are beautiful, designed to be worn confidently from the moment they arrive. No extra steps. No hiding. Just something that finally feels right.
I didn’t want to create just another wig line. I wanted to create something that honors the person wearing it. Something I’m proud to put my name on — because I know how much it matters.
If you're ready to feel like you again — or maybe even meet a version of yourself you haven’t seen in a while — I’d love to help you find the perfect wig.
